The second myth is that Fibromyalgia is a new and rare condition.  The fact is that Fibromyalgia symptoms have been present for hundreds of years. However it’s been called many names in the past including: muscular rheumatism and fibrosititis. Then in 1976, The term fibromyalgia was coined in 1976 to more accurately describe the symptoms, from the Latin fibra (fiber) and the Greek words myo (muscle) and algos (pain).  The final myth is that only women get fibromyalgia.
